Accedian Networks Unveils Industry's First Universal Ethernet NID

MONTREAL - Accedian Networks Inc., a leading provider of Ethernet OAM solutions, announced today the introduction of the EtherNID(TM) GE, industry's first Universal Ethernet Demarcation Device (EDD).

The EtherNID(TM) GE's Universal Architecture allows Ethernet Service Providers to upgrade their Customers from 10/100M to GigE without the truck-roll and OPEX, thus enabling Carriers to deploy today the bandwidth needs of tomorrow and hence, future-proofing their Ethernet Access Infrastructure.

"Carriers can now remotely upgrade their last mile fiber links from 100M to GigE with a few mouse clicks, avoiding visits to the customer premises," said Patrick Ostiguy, CEO of Accedian Networks "this results in faster response to customer demand and tremendous savings in OPEX."

The EtherNID(TM) GE is the first standalone NID to be equipped with 2 tri-rate SFP receptacles plus 2 tri-rate RJ-45s, each universally configurable by software to act either as Client, Network, or Monitor port.

Combined with industry's wide range of copper and fiber multi-rate SFP modules, the EtherNID(TM) GE universally addresses all Ethernet Demark applications thus also allowing Carriers to reduce the amount of inventoried and spared parts and realize substantial economies of scale.
